Dear AAP writer,
First of all, thank you for writing for me, no matter the number of words. Below I've talked a little bit about the characters. Any ideas or prompts I've mentioned are just there to help if you need something to get started. If you have plot bunnies of your own please go ahead and chase them!
Likes: f/f, Fluff, mystery, adventure, casefic, hurt/comfort, found families, strong female characters, affection, girls with swords, friends-to-lovers, missing scenes, post-canon, scars, injury recovery, happy/hopeful endings, time-travel, time-loops, getting together, pre-relationship, established relationships, unconventional formats that fit the canon setting (letters, journals, case reports, newspapers, non-linear narratives, etc.) and alternative story formats (choose your own adventure-style fics, visual novels, hyperlinked fics, etc.). For AUs, I like canon-divergence and what-if scenarios and I'm also partial to historical AUs.
DNW: Explicit sex (mentions and fade to black are okay), non-con, dubcon, incest, animal harm/death (hunting is fine as long as not graphic and fighting any kind of monster is fine too--just please don't kill pets or animal companions or the like), permanent main character death, graphic violence/gore, torture, self-harm, character-bashing, kidfic/pregnancy fic (mentions are fine; I just don't want babies and small children to be the focus of the fic), unrequested genderswap, mundane AUs (coffee shop, sports team etc.), supernatural AU (vampire AU, magical school AU, etc.)
General letter
Revue Starlight
Maya/Claudine
I've seen both the anime and the movie so please feel free to reference either/both.
Even though they're rivals I love how as the show goes on, it becomes clear that they really do care for each other. Their revue in the series is such a transformative moment for them as is their revue in the movie. I love how both of those show how in synch they are (Battle Couple is one my favourite tropes and they hit it so it well). The intensity of that connection in the revues is something I really love. I'd love to see more revue antics whether during the series or in a post-canon setting or anything to do with the time loop (them becoming aware of it at some point maybe? Or another loop created for some other reason?) I'm also always up for seeing how their connection translates into their real life interactions, that mix of rivalry and caring.
Genshin Impact
I'm a new Genshin Impact player (working through Inazuma) so there's a ton of lore and characters I don't know yet, though I'm not worried about spoilers. Jean, Lisa, and Ningguang are ealy favourites.
Jean/Lisa
I enjoy characters who are Very Serious and Jean falls into that mould. I find it especially interesting the contrast between Mondstadt being the City of Freedom and Jean being so devoted to duty. Her desire to lead and protect her people makes her the opposite of what their land and Archon stand for. Lisa makes for an enjoyable foil to her with her playfulness. But I'm also really curious about Lisa's past. From what I know of it there's some mystery around how she obtained her Vision and about her time in Sumeru. Would love to see more about that and how it feeds into their relationship.
Ningguang
I haven't seen nearly enough of Ningguang but I love that she's extremely capable and determined. I enjoy seeing her in her role as a leader but I'd also love to see more of what her private life is like, to see what she's like when she's not in the public eye.
Fire Emblem Three Houses
Byleth/Edelgard
I love Edelgard's determination to make the world a better place and the moral greyness surrounding the decisions she makes and the ones she's forced to make due to the silthers. I love that her story is complex and tragic, but that it can also lead to hope in CF route where Byleth and Edelgard team up to reclaim Fodlan for humanity, and in doing so reclaim their own. Byleth's story arc of her slowly becoming more human becomes especially interesting with the loss of her crest and gaining a heartbeat.
Would love to see anything set during the game or after it. Hurt/comfort is always welcome. So are Divine Pulse shenanigans, whether played for drama (e.g. saving a life, preventing injury, having to choose between the least bad of two bad outcomes), or for less serious purposes (preventing a mishap, avoiding getting caught in an embarrassing situation, restarting a conversation that went badly). For post-canon seeing them tackle some of the challenges of eliminating the class system or eliminating the Slithers would be interesting, as would just seeing them have some quiet time together.
Claude & Edelgard
I really regret how little these two get to interact in the game when they're actually quite similar in a lot of ways. Their visions for Fódlan's future have a lot in common and I wish they could have worked together like they do in Hopes, though obviously the hurdle to that is that they have absolutely no reason to trust each other. I'd love to see something where these two do get to work together in some capacity, whether it's at the academy or at some point during the war. And canon divergence is completely fine if that's the route you want to go.
Byleth & Jeralt
Always open to stories about these two set pre-canon. What was their life like? Jeralt must have worried about Byleth given how blank and unemotive she was for most of her life. And given his suspicions about Rhea how did that affect things? He seems to have avoided the Church as much as possible during their mercenary life.
As for canon, it's so unfair that they didn't get supports in Houses (and I'm so glad they did in Hopes). I'd love to see them spending more time together during the academy and getting more insight into how Jeralt see the changes in Byleth. And hearing more about Sitri is always great too. I'm also open to AUs where he doesn't die and things play out differently.
Also as a note about Jeralt I think he'd be a fun one for in-universe documents given that he's what--300 or so years old? Has he had to fake his death and create a new identity like Rhea has? Has he used different names? Maybe something about one of his past adventures as a Knight of Seiros or his early days of being a mercenary and a dad. Or some record or letter in the Garreg Mach library that's hundreds of years old but seems to describe him
Byleth & Sothis
Sothis is always so much fun in 3H. I love how much attitude she gives Byleth. I'd love to see more of them during the academy or an AU where she gets to stick longer. Hearing her take on the other characters is always especially fun. Or if you're feeling adventurous I'd love to hear a little more about what you think her past might have been like, if she eventually remembers any more of her life--or of her death.
Claude/Hilda
I love their A support in particular, how these two see through each other, they can both tell how often the other is putting on an act. I also love the parallel between Hilda running off with an Almyran prince just like Claude's mom did. I also like that learning that Claude is Almyran would force Hilda to reevaluate her biases against them; I like that it forces her to grow beyond her prejudices.
I'm always excited to see how their relationship develops at the academy or during the war and I'm also curious to see what their life in Almyra might be like.
Fire Emblem Sacred Stones
Seth/Eirika, solo Seth
I love pairings that involve a member of royalty and their retainer or bodyguard. Seth/Eirika is a great example of that: retainer who's known the princess a long time and probably helped train her to fight. If you don't ship them, that's fine too; I'm totally fine with stories about friendship/platonic loyalty and devotion. I'd love to see anything with them either before, during, or after the war. Loyalty, protectiveness, training or fighting together, managing friendship or romance when they're of different stations--these are all aspects of their dynamics I find really interesting.
I also enjoy enjoy stories that show how Eirika matures as a character over the course of the story, going from a young, naive princess, to someone with battle experience and a more definite sense of her responsibilities as a rule, someone who's been shaped by loss and the violence of the war but who remains kindhearted in spite of it. As for Seth, I love Seth as the classic white knight: serious, devoted to duty, loyal to a fault. I'm always eager to see more pre-game fic about him. In his support with Cormag he says King Fado treated him like a son. I'd love to see more about how that came to be. How did he become a knight? What happened to his family? He seems awfully young to be be a General and to have the reputation he does as the Silver Knight. How did he earn it?
Syrene/Tana
I love pairings that involve a member of royalty and their retainer or bodyguard. I always loved Seth/Eirika and Tana/Syrene is the same flavour of ship: retainer who's known the princess a long time and probably helped train her to fight, thrown together during the war. I'd love to see anything with them either before, during, or after the war. Loyalty, protectiveness, training or fighting together, managing friendship or romance when they're of different stations--these are all aspects of their dynamics I find really interesting.
Selena (solo or with Seth and/or Eirika)
Selena is such an underutilized character. She's such a strong and upright knight while also being kind and compassionate. I'd really love to see some sort of AU version of events where she doesn't die. I also think it would be fun to see her interacting with Seth and/or Eirika. Eirika she meets briefly earlier in the game without realizing she's the princess, which is interesting. And Selena and Seth and really interesting foils for her each other, especially in the context of Seth/Eirika where not only are they both loyal and devoted knights, but they're both in love with the person they serve. I'd love to see stories where confronting what's happened to Grado and her emperor doesn't lead to her choosing death in battle as the only path for her.
Fire Emblem Awakening
Say'ri/Tiki
I adore their supports, the way Tiki insists that, in spite of Say'ri's comparatively short life span, she still wants to be close to her. The immoral/mortal dynamic has this inherently bittersweet element to it. They also have contrasting personalities with Tiki prone to moments of silliness and Say'ri being ultrta serious all the time, which is fun, especially as part of the deity/vassal aspect of their relationship. I'd love to see more of how their relationship evolves over time during or after the war and how Say'ri's able to move from seeing Tiki as a person in her own right rather than as the Voice of Naga.
Akane & Phi
It's been a hot minute since I played these game, but Phi was my favourite character. I love how smart she is and her knowing Latin was a cool element too. I was always curious what made her the way she is, extremely practical, and not very trusting. Akane shares a lot of these elements, though, of course we know how she got there.
So yeah, I'd love to see anything about these two brilliant characters who are willing to do whatever it takes to survive and, by the end, to change the course of events. Time travel is always a fun addition if you want to include it. Or just something introspective about how these two cope with everything that's happened to them.
I did find the last game profoundly disappointing in how it handled many plot points (alien tech out of the blue? really?) and how Phi gets completely shafted in that game, so I'd prefer to not delve too deeply into it.
