Dear Yuletide writer,
Welcome to another Yuletide season and thank you so much for writing for me! I've written a little about my requested characters and what I enjoy about them as well as some questions/ideas for things to explore. But please take these only as suggestions. If you have an idea gnawing at your brain please go ahead and run with it.
Likes: f/f, Fluff, mystery, adventure, casefic, hurt/comfort, found families, strong female characters, affection, girls with swords, friends-to-lovers, missing scenes, post-canon, scars, injury recovery, happy/hopeful endings, time-travel, time-loops, getting together, pre-relationship, established relationship, unconventional formats that fit the canon setting (letters, journals, case reports, newspapers, non-linear narratives, choose your own adventure-style fics, etc.). For AUs, I like canon-divergence and what-if scenarios and I'm also partial to historical AUs.
DNW: Explicit sex (mentions and fade to black are okay), non-con, dubcon, incest, animal harm/death (hunting is fine as long as not graphic and fighting any kind of monster is fine too--just please don't kill pets or animal companions or the like), permanent main character death, graphic violence/gore, torture, self-harm, character-bashing, kidfic/pregnancy fic (mentions are fine; I just don't want babies and small children to be the focus of the fic), unrequested genderswap, mundane AUs (coffee shop, sports team etc.), supernatural AU (vampire AU, magical school AU, etc.)
Sunless Skies
Witch From Mercury
Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones
Where on Earth is Carmen Sandiego
Enchanted Forest Chronicles
Sunless Skies
Canon-typical violence is okay for this one, though please do keep it understated the way it is in the game.
I love the weird, creepy world of Fallen London and this later version of it in this bizzare sky/space world they move to after their time belowground. The otherworldliness combined with the familiar elements of Victorian Britain is just delightful. I'm open to any sort of adventures in this world, whether creepy or mundane: fighting sky beasts, or lounging around in the mess hall, or a mishap during a stay at port—or anything else! Appearances by any characters are welcome, though I would prefer a female or gender-neutral captain if they appear.
The Felined Eccentric
The Felined Eccentric was one of my favourite crew stories in the game. I love the "Encounter with the Eccentric" scene, how they work quietly and companionably together. And I also find the scene with Paimon really funny, how he separates them when she sits next to the captain. I find her backstory especially interesting. Iirc she's tied to the White Well and there's an implication she might have been The Watcher (or something along those lines?). And I I love that she ends up carting around her past self in the form of three ornery cats.
I'd love to see anything that expands on her character in her present form or in her past form and her transformation in Piranesi. I'd love to see anything about her travels on the locomotive--a day-in-life, a strange adventure, a problem with cats--anything really. And I'd love to know more about her feelings about what's she's become, about the remnants of her past following her in feline form, or about how she feels about the captain and crew since it sounds like it's her first time having companions.
I'm fine with the level of weirdness and vaguely violent events in the game but I'd like to avoid anything super dark or gory. Also, if you end up including the sky captain I'd really appreciate a female captain. And of course, feel free to add in any other characters you'd like.
Witch from Mercury
Suletta, Miorine
The show really puts these two through the ringer, doesn't it? I think because of that what I'm most interested in is post-canon fic--or actually to be more clear, fic that takes place during the three year gap before the final scene *or* after the final scene. I'd like to see them finally have the time to process everything that's happened and to finally start living life on their own terms.
The final glimpse of them we have shows them being very comfortable and settled with each other, which is such a relief after all the misunderstandings during the show. How do they get there? What conversations do they have to have after the battle with Quiet Zero? What does Suletta's recovery look like? What does Miorine's work look like? Does the work with the prosthetics continue? When do they get married and how does that conversation go? Miorine had was already telling Propera they were going to be family aboard Quiet Zero so she'd obviously made up her mind already but do they ever talk about it or do they just choose a date and that's it? How do they settle discover and get accustomed to Ericht's presence? There's so much to explore and I'd love to read whatever bit of canon most intrigues you.
Fire Emblem Sacred Stones
Seth, Eirika
I love pairings that involve a member of royalty and their retainer or bodyguard. Seth/Eirika is a great example of that: retainer who's known the princess a long time and probably helped train her to fight. If you don't ship them, that's fine too; I'm totally fine with stories about friendship/platonic loyality and devotion.
I'd love to see anything with them either before, during, or after the war. Loyalty, protectiveness, training or fighting together, managing friendship or romance when they're of different stations--these are all aspects of their dynamics I find really interesting.
I also enjoy enjoy stories that show how Eirika matures as a character over the course of the story, going from a young, naive princess, to someone with battle experience and a more definite sense of her responsibilities as a rule, someone who's been shaped by loss and the violence of the war but who remains kindhearted in spite of it.
As for Seth, I love Seth as the classic white knight: serious, devoted to duty, loyal to a fault. I'm always eager to see more pre-game fic about him. In his support with Cormag he says King Fado treated him like a son. I'd love to see more about how that came to be. How did he become a knight? What happened to his family? He seems awfully young to be be a General and to have the reputation he does as the Silver Knight. How did he earn it?
Where on Earth is Carmen Sandiego
Carmen, Ivy
I rewatched the whole series a few years ago and loved it even more than I did when I was a kid. I love how brilliant Carmen is but how she's also depicted as a thief with a conscience in this version. She steals things for the challenge and to provide a challenge for young brilliant detectives. I love how Ivy is a foil to her in a lot of ways. Zack matches Carmen's computer and language skills, but Ivy has Carmen's determination and daring (not to say careless disregard for her own safety ;) ). I'm also tickled by the idea of these two falling for each other post-series when Ivy is an adult (20+). But of course I'm perfectly fine with a platonic canon-typical story about these two set during or after the show itself.
I'd love to see them in a situation where they have to work together whether it be to solve a crime or to deal with something more mundane. The late-series episodes where they had to team up were some of my favourites. Time travel antics are always welcome too. Drop them into a historical period, strand the somewhere, or have them deal with an unexpected oops as a result of time travel antics and I'm always happy.
Enchanted Forest Chronicles
Telemain, Morwen
I loved how the third book in the series really focusses on their dynamic. You get to see very clearly how Morwen, in spite of her impatience with Telemain, is really concerned about him when he's straining himself with the transportation spells and then when he gets knocked out in the swamp. And then in the fourth book she has to patch him up again and somehow that leads to off-camera marriage proposal. They're a bit of an couple, but they work so well together and that always made me smile. I also love Morwen's cats and Telemain's inventions and tecnobabble. I'd love to see some sort of story whether pre- post- of during canon where they have to work together on something-- a problem in the forest, one of Telemain's experiments, or even a new recipe of Morwen's. Or just a scene of what they do when they're not chasing wizards, or what they did during the intervening years between books three and four. Or anything else that comes to mind. And of course feel free to add in any other cast members you'd like and there are always bonus points for including the cats!
