Dear FIAB author,
Thank you so much for writing for me. Below are some thoughts about characters and pairings and a few possible ideas/prompts. These are only suggestions so please don't feel bound to any of them if you have a completely different idea--I'm happy to be surprised!
For mediums: I've listed my opt-ins below for your convenience, But basically, if you're hoping to create in-universe documents, feel free. I'm always interested in how documents, whether it be letters, contracts, treaties, texts, etc. can reveal something interesting about a character or world. I'm also open to non-traditional styles of stories (non-linear, any POV type, CYOA stories, stories with hypertext or unusual formatting, etc.) so if you've got something you want to try, go for it!
Likes: Fluff, mystery, adventure, casefic, hurt/comfort, found families, strong female characters, f/f, affection, girls with swords, friends-to-lovers, missing scenes, post-canon, scars, injury recovery, happy/hopeful endings, time-travel, time-loops, getting together, pre-relationship, established relationship, unconventional formats that fit the canon setting (letters, journals, case reports, newspapers, non-linear narratives, choose your own adventure-style fics, etc.). For AUs, I like canon-divergence and what-if scenarios and I'm also partial to historical AUs.

Canon-typical violence is okay for this one, though please do keep it understated the way it is in the game.
I love the weird, creepy world of Fallen London and the Underzee. The otherworldliness combined with the familiar elements of Victorian Britain is just delightful. I'm open to any sort of adventures in this world, whether creepy or mundane: fighting Zee beasts, or lounging around in the mess hall, or a mishap during a stay at port—or anything else!
Tireless Mechanic
The Tireless Mechanic was one of my favourite crewmembers--the brilliant but eccentric engineer trope is fun. I was also fascinated by the idea of his not sleeping. What does he do during all those extra hours? Does he envy the people who do sleep?
I'm open to any and all crew though so go ahead and use whatever mix of characters suits you, though I prefer a female captain if they're included. I'm mostly just excited to see more of the weird world of Fallen London and the Unterzee.
Some favourite locales:
*Frostfound. I love ice and snow so I have a soft spot for Frostfound.
*Fallen London itself. Would love to see what the characters get up to when the ship is being repaired at Wolfstack Docks and they get some shore leave.
*Irem. I love the weird future tense and visions associated with Irem
Mask of the Rose
I've only played a tiny bit of Fallen London so I really enjoyed the chance to see more of the city in this game, and seeing it right after the fall when people were still learning about how things work in the Neath was fantastic. I've gotten all but two of the endings so don't worry about spoilers. If the player character is mentioned I'd prefer a female character. If you're interested in doing in-universe documents this would probably a fun one for that. Maybe a more fleshed out newspaper article like the ones we get headlines for in the game. Or one of Harjit's reports or Archie's stories. Or some sort of arcane list of Mr Pages'.
Griz
I find all of the cast interesting but Griz is by far my favourite so I'd love to see anything with her, whether it's exploring her past as a member of high society, her transition from naive society girl to Fallen London bureaucrat, to her various adventures in the Neath. If you want to references romances I'd prefer they be f/f. OC player character or Rachel is fine. Not keen on her infatuation with Mr. Pages (I know what's under those robes lol).
Rachel
Rachel's role as a working author who has to churn out regular chapters for her publisher even in the Neath and even after her brother's death is something I'd love to see explored. It's a fun mechanic in the game too having the player character assist with stories so feel free to include them in if you're so inclined. Her interest in Milton is something that bothered me in the game because it seems so... unwise... for someone who depends on being able to read and interpret people's behaviour for her writing. And then there's David and the trauma of his murder and the fact that the culprit--whether she believes it's Archie or one of the other characters who can be charged with the crime--is somoene she knew and trusted.
Any
While I do have some favourites, I find the entire cast fascinating and I love the whole milieu of Fallen London so I'm eager to see any and all stories about it. If there's someone you're dying to write about, please do so.
House of Many Doors
Canon-typical violence is okay for this one. While the game does deal with a lot of gory events, it does so in such an understated way that it's not distressing to read so I'm okay with a similar style of violence/horror/weirdness.
I love the bizarre world they created for this game: the strange locales; the fact that so many people in the House have come from other worlds, some of them like ours, and some very different; the mix of human and non-humans trapped there.
I'd love to see any of the game's locations and lore show up. There so much weirdness and it's all fantastic. I'd like to see just about anything set in this world because it's so strange and interesting and evocative. So feel free to add in whatever characters you want and explore whichever corner of The House interests you. My only request would be that if the kinetopod captain shows up I'd prefer a female captain.
Harmony Ricketts
Harmony's story was my favourite of all the ones I've seen. It was weirdly fascinating to see her transform herself. And I have a soft spot for this story because the captain gets to rescue her during her final procedure and who doesn't love getting to be heroic? ;). How do the other crew members react to Harmony's transformation? Does she ever properly thank the captain for all her help? What else does she want to see or do in the House? How does the art world react to her new art form? How does she even sleep with all those spikes in her back? Tell me any sort of story about her and feel free to toss in any of the other characters.
Legend of Korra
I've read the comics so feel free to include that material if you're so inclined.
Korra/Asami
Friends to lovers is a favourite trope of mine, so I really love the arc of their relationship, how they slowly get to know each other, slowly become friends, and that eventually evolves into something more. But I'm sad that we get to see so little of it on-screen. I'm always up for further exploration of their relationship whether it's during canon as missing scenes, or post canon as an established relationship.
How do Korra's avatar duties shape their relationship? How does Asami juggle managing her business and helping the avatar? Are people accepting of their relationship? The comics imply some degree of homophobia in their world so I'm okay if you want to explore that as long as it's mild--no slurs or anything super violent or hateful please.
Chances for them to do the battle couple thing (like in the season three episode where they fight off that gang trying to steal the earth queen's tax money) are always a plus too.
Asami
I especially love that Asami doesn't have any powers but is still hyper-competent and kick-ass. She has such a fascinating character arc in season one with her father and it's really a pity it isn't touched on again until season four. I'm always interested in hearing more about how that experienced shaped her, how she learned to come to terms with it. And I'm always interested in what she got up to during the three years Korra was away. I'd be interested to hear more about her engineering stuff, what she works on/builds/designs and how it impacts Republic City and the rest of the world. And anything where she gets to drive vehicles and be cool is always A++.
Korra
I think my favourite thing about Korra is how much she evolves as a character between seasons three and four. I love that they actually had her work through a traumatic experience and showed just how much the phsyical and psychological wounds affected her. It's so rare to see that grappled with in a hero show, let alone an animted one that started out as a Saturday morning cartoon. I'm always interested in seeing more of how those experiences shaped her both during canon and in the post-canon world.
RWBY
Blake/Yang
I'm a late arrival to this series but now that I've finally seen it, it's become a huge favourite. I adore Yang especially and really enjoyed watching the development of her relationship with Blake over the series. But I also love how all the characters grow and mature, especially over the course of V3-4 and then really come into their own in V7-8 and finally 9. I'd love to see a take on post-season 9 with them returning to Vacuo. I assume they've been away for a bit. Were they presume dead? Was anyone holding out hope that they'd be back?
For less plotty stuff I'm happy to see quiet scenes with these two spending time together, pre-relationship or established relationship is fine. Missing scenes are always great. Love to see them training together, fighting back to back, patching each other up when they're injured. Post-canon stuff like Yang and Blake getting to meet each other's parents is always a fun thing to explore too.
Team RWBY
I really enjoy the entire team's dynamic and I'd love to see how they're coping post-season 9 with them returning to Vacuo. I assume they've been away for a bit. Were they presume dead? Was anyone holding out hope that they'd be back? Reunions with other cast members would be very welcome. Missing scenes from any of the seasons are also great, whether it's hanging out at Beacon or fighting Grim in Atlas. The mix of humour, emotion, and real character development is something I adore in the series and would love to see more of.
Teixcalaan
Mahit/Three Seagrass
Really I'd love to see anything about these two. I love how smart and witty they both are and how important language and poetry are in these books. I also enjoy how in-world documents are a part of the books and how they're used to show us more of the world the the main characters operate in. I'd definitely love to see something that hints at what these two get up two that we don't see in the books but I'm also open to any world-building element whether it's about the cultural traditions of Teixcalaan, Lesel, or something more mundane like the latest issue of that Stationer comic Three Seagrass was reading.
Fire Emblem Heroes
Fjorm/Laegjarn
Enemies to lovers isn't usually my jam, but somehow this pairing was the exception for me. I really love how even when their nations are at war Laegjarn feels that she and Fjorm would otherwise have been friends. And I'm really tickled that the summoned versions of them do indeed canonically become friends. I'd love to see more of how this works, whether it's a scenario where they have to fight again due to summon contracts or where they're fighting side by side and have to rely on each other. Any kind of scene where they get to spend time together would be great. And feel free to toss in any other heroes you may need.
Being summoned gives them both a second chance. How do they feel about that? Do they have regrets about their past choices? What do they want to do with their lives now that the war is over and their siblings are responsible for their kingdoms? Of course there's still the Askr war going on and they still have to risk their lives on a regular basis to protect Askr so it's not as if they couldn't lose each other or suffer further injuries. How does that weigh on them? How do react to close calls, to moments when they get separated in battle, to the possibility of being parted?
Fire Emblem: Sacred Stones
Seth/Eirika
Tana/Syrene
I love pairings that involve a member of royalty and their retainer or bodyguard. I always loved Seth/Eirika and Tana/Syrene is the same flavour of ship: retainer who's known the princess a long time and probably helped train her to fight, thrown together during the war. I'd love to see anything with them either before, during, or after the war. Loyalty, protectiveness, training or fighting together, managing friendship or romance when they're of different stations--these are all aspects of their dynamics I find really interesting
Seth
I love Seth as the classic white knight: serious, devoted to duty, loyal to a fault. I'm always eager to see more pre-game fic about him. In his support with Cormag he says King Fado treated him like a son. I'd love to see more about how that came to be. How did he become a knight? What happened to his family? He seems awfully young to be be a General and to have the reputation he does as the Silver Knight. How did he earn it?
Selena
It's been a bit since I last played the game, but what I remember about Selena is that she was in love with the emperor and wouldn't waver in her loyalty to him even when it became evident that he was no longer himself. She's an interesting contrast to someone like Carlysle who betrays his queen because of his love for her. Also for Seth if you happen to ship him with Eirika and get his A supports with her. The themes of how love can be destructive are really fascinating (see also Orson and Monica). I'm definitely open to canon-compliant fic that explores her feelings during the war or how things were between her and the emperor pre-canon. Canon-divergent fic could also be really interesting, though. What if she hadn't died? What if she survived the war or joined Ephraim and Eirika in order to save Grado. I'd love to see her interacting with the rest of the cast.
Fire Emblem: Three Houses
Claude & Edelgard
I really regret how little these two get to interact in the game when they're actually quite similar in a lot of ways. Their visions for Fódlan's future have a lot in common and I wish they could have worked together like they do in Hopes, though obviously the hurdle to that is that they have absolutely no reason to trust each other. I'd love to see something where these two do get to work together in some capacity, whether it's at the academy or at some point during the war. And canon divergence is completely fine if that's the route you want to go.
Female Byleth & Jeralt
Always open to stories about these two set pre-canon. What was their life like? Jeralt must have worried about Byleth given how blank and unemotive she was for most of her life. And given his suspicions about Rhea how did that affect things? He seems to have avoided the Church as much as possible during their mercenary life.
As for canon, it's so unfair that they didn't get supports in Houses (and I'm so glad they did in Hopes). I'd love to see them spending more time together during the academy and getting more insight into how Jeralt see the changes in Byleth. And hearing more about Sitri is always great too. I'm also open to AUs where he doesn't die and things play out differently.
Also as a note about Jeralt I think he'd be a fun one for in-universe documents given that he's what--300 or so years old? Has he had to fake his death and create a new identity like Rhea has? Has he used different names? Maybe something about one of his past adventures as a Knight of Seiros or his early days of being a mercenary and a dad. Or some record or letter in the Garreg Mach library that's hundreds of years old but seems to describe him.
Black Eagles & Female Byleth
I enjoy all the Black Eagles so if there's a story you want to tell about your favourite Eagles and Byleth, whether it be at the academy or during the war, I'm here for it. I love how important the bonds between Byleth and the eagles become to her, how they allow her to become more fully human instead of the sort of blank slate she seemed to be before Sothis woke up. I love how her calm and her (probably crest-related) charisma allow people to open up to her and talk to her about the things that most weigh on them. I'd love to hear more about how the Eagles feel about the war, or about how they react to Byleth's disappearance. Time-travel antics are always welcome. I love seeing fics where Byleth uses divine pulse in battle and how that can sometimes save the day or sometimes make things worse by having unintended consequences. Is she ever tempted to use Divine Pulse outside of battle?
Dorothea/Petra
Petra is still so young in part 1 of the game so please make sure to set it when she's older--or have her be older since it's an AU I guess? Either way please have her be 17+,
I love how strong and hardworking Petra is and while her verbal missteps are often used for comedic relief I really admire her for persisting in a second language. Dorothea meanwhile is so lovely and kind but she's really down on herself a lot of the time. She seems so convinced that her appearance and voice are the only things anyone really sees in her and she's determined to get married before those things fade. So there's this surprisingly sad undercurrent to several of supports despite how cheerful and uplifting she is so many others.
Edelgard
Edelgard/Byleth
I love Edelgard's determination to make the world a better place and the moral greyness surrounding the decisions she makes and the ones she's forced to make due to the silthers. I love that her story is complex and tragic, but that it can also lead to hope in CF route where Byleth and Edelgard team up to reclaim Fodlan for humanity, and in doing so reclaim their own. Byleth's story arc of her slowly becoming more human becomes especially interesting with the loss of her crest and gaining a heartbeat.
WB: Golden Route
I would love to see someone's take on how a golden route would take place, whether it's via fic, or letters, or other documents. Everyone involved is adamant that they're right and some of their views are diametrically opposed, most notably Rhea's belief that she has to control human society and technology to prevent the calamity caused by the Agarthans and a repetition of the Red Canyon massacre versus Edelgard's belief that the crest system created and supported by the Church of Seiros is the ultimate root of all suffering and needs to be stamped out. Is there a way things could have played out that wouldn't have involved all-out war? Maybe if someone had learned about Thales's plan earlier? Or some other situation that would have caused Edelgard and the others to work together and learn to trust each other?
Fire Emblem: Three Hopes
Female Byleth & Jeralt
Always open to stories about these two set pre-canon or during canon but before they show up in a major way. But I'm also curious about how their relationship evolves over the course of the game. Now that Sothis has woken up I think we can assume that Byleth will start to become, more human, more emotive, just as she did in Three Houses. Jerlat notices it in Three Houses and remarks on it a few times. I have to think he notices the change in her(beyond her hair and eyes) in Three Hopes as well. Also always eager to hear more about Sitri--it was so lovely to finally get to see them talk about her in their supports.
I feel really bad that Byleth missed out on the time at the academy. I'd love to see her getting a chance to get to know any of the Black Eagles better, whether it's in battle or just around camp. Dorothea is one of my favouites, but I'd be happy to see any of them included. Byleth doesn't seem to be used to being around being people. At one point she expresses surprise that no one is all that terrified of her. How does her reputation as the Ashen Demon affect how everyone treats her?
Female Byleth
I'm really fascinated by the relationship between Byleth and Sothis in Three Hopes so if that's something you'd like to explore I'd love to see your take on it. Sothis takes control of her and refers to her as a glove. That must be incredibly unsettling. If you're more interested in pre-Sothis Byleth I'd love to see more of that too, her life as a mercenary and as the Ashen Demon, her time on the opposite side of Shez's faction--there's lots to explore. I am really sad that she missed out on time at the academy though and how isolated she seems. Shortly after you recruit her she expresses surprise that no one is all that terrified of her so it seems like she didn't have anyone close besides her father even among their mercenary band.
Dorothea/Petra
Petra is still pretty young in Three Hopes so it's fine for this to be more pre-relationship or set post-canon. I've always liked these two. (I have comments on them in my Three Houses section if you want more details.)
I think one of the interesting differences between this version of them and the original is that Petra is already the queen of Brigid, even though it hasn't been announced publicly. A lot of her supports have to do with her talking about her duty to Brigid as its queen. I wonder if Dorothea would find that at all intimidating? In the original game Petra is still a princess and Dorothea is very chill about that, but would knowing that, as soon as the war ends, Petra will return to Brigid and take the throne make a difference? Would it affect how they interact and how they develop feelings for each other? Would that not happen until later maybe? When Petra was visiting Fodlan or Dorothea was visit Brigid? I'm also up for any sort of bonding during the war too though. Mostly I just want to see them spending more time together and getting closer
Claude & Edelgard
It was a treat to get to see these two get to work together. I found it really interesting how Claude's route reveals how cut-throat Claude can really be. The fight at Ailell left me furious but I was glad the rest of the Deer were upset too and called him out on it. I enjoyed seeing him learn to trust his friends more and be more open with them. And again I thought it was interesting that he felt it was necessary to kill Rhea whereas Edelgard would have been satisfied with deposing her. The compare and contrast between their very determined (and oftentimes problematic) leadership and decisions is really fascinating. They both have such similar goals and want to change Fodlan's political structure for the better but neither one of them trusts the other. I'd love to see them have to work side by side in some capacity whether it be a political capacity or on the battlefield just to see how this mix of distrust and convergent political goals and values can play out.
Edelgard
Edelgard's determination to make the world a better place and the moral greyness surrounding the decisions she makes and the ones she's forced to make due to the silthers is something I really love about her character. In Three Hopes it's really interesting to see what she's able to do when she isn't controlled by Thales. It must have been such a relief to her that she didn't have to go through with the whole Flame Emperor charade. She still bears the responsibility of starting a war and knows she's willing to sacrifice others (like Monica as she tells her in their supports) but she was able to take on the Church on her own terms without being complicit in the slithers' experiments. I'd love to see how any of this plays out for her during the academy phase, the pre-war period, or during the main game. Does she worry still about what Thales is up to? Do they have encounters with some of Thales's underlings? Does Thales still have spies in Enbarr or at Garreg Mach? How did her experience in Zaharas affect her?
Edelgard/Female!Byleth
The dynamic between these two is quite different in Three Hopes so I'd love to see more of how they get to know each other once Byleth gets recruited. Maybe a moment during a battle, or Byleth's reaction to seeing Edelgard disappear along with Shez and the others and then being returned, or just the first time they have tea together. I love that there's a discussion in Hubert's supports to Edelgard's being drawn to Byleth because of their shared crest so anything to do with Edelgard's crest is interesting too.
