Dear Yuletide writer,

First of all thank you for writing something for me. I'm excited about all the fandoms I've requested and I've offered some ideas or prompts but don't feel bound to these. If you have a completely different idea, go ahead and write that. If you're interested in creating an unusual style of fic--epistolary, diary, newspaper etc.-- go for it. All of the fandoms I've requested would work work for those things and I'm also open to any POV (even second  if you want to emulate the style AHoMD or SS are done in) as well as present or past tense, whatever suits your story best. If you want to write something more traditional, tropey or fluffy, don't worry I'll enjoy that too.

Yuletide is one of my favourite exchanges and it's always a treat to see all these little fandoms get a trickle of new fics. I hope you have fun too!

A House of Many Doors

Canon-typical violence is okay for this one. While the game does deal with a lot of gory events, it does so in such an understated way that it's not distressing to read so I'm okay with a similar style of violence/horror/weirdness.

I love the bizarre world they created for this game: the strange locales; the fact that so many people in the House have come from other worlds, some of them like ours, and some very different; the mix of human and non-humans trapped there. I'd love to see any of the game's locations and lore show up. There so much weirdness and it's all fantastic.

Harmony Ricketts

Harmony's story was my favourite of all the ones I've seen. It was weirdly fascinating to see her transform herself. And I have a soft spot for this story because the captain gets to rescue her during her final procedure. How do the other crew members react to Harmony's transformation? Does she ever properly thank the captain for all her help? What else does she want to see or do in the House? How does the art world react to her new art form? How does she even sleep with all those spikes in her back? Tell me any sort of story about her and feel free to toss in any of the other characters.

Mostly I'd like to see just about anything set in this word because it's so strange and interesting and evocative. So feel free to add in whatever characters you want and explore whichever corner of The House interests you. My only request would be that if the kinetopod captain shows up I'd prefer a female or gender-neutral captain.

Sunless Sea

Canon-typical violence is okay for this one, though please do keep it understated the way it is in the game.

I love the weird, creepy world of Fallen London and the Underzee. The otherworldliness combined with the familiar elements of Victorian Britain is just delightful. I'm open to any sort of adventures in this world, whether creepy or mundane: fighting Zee beasts, or lounging around in the mess hall, or a mishap during a stay at port—or anything else! Appearances by any characters are welcome, though I would prefer a female or gender-neutral captain if they appear.

Tireless Mechanic

The Tireless Mechanic was one of my favourite crewmembers--the brilliant but eccentric engineer trope is fun. I was also fascinated by the idea of his not sleeping. What does he do during all those extra hours? Does he envy the people who do sleep?

I'm open to any and all crew though so go ahead and use whatever mix of characters suits you, though I prefer a female or gender-neutral captain if they're included. I'm mostly just excited to see more of the weird world of Fallen London and the Unterzee.

Sunless Skies

Canon-typical violence is okay for this one, though please do keep it understated the way it is in the game.

I love the weird, creepy world of Fallen London and this later version of it in this bizzare sky/space world they move to after their time belowground. The otherworldliness combined with the familiar elements of Victorian Britain is just delightful. I'm open to any sort of adventures in this world, whether creepy or mundane: fighting sky beasts, or lounging around in the mess hall, or a mishap during a stay at port—or anything else! Appearances by any characters are welcome, though I would prefer a female or gender-neutral captain if they appear.

The Felined Eccentric

The Felined Eccentric was one of my favourite crew stories in the game. I love the "Encounter with the Eccentric" scene, how they work quietly and companionably together. And I also find the scene with Paimon really funny, how he separates them when she sits next to the captain. I'd love to see anything about her travels on the locomotive–a day-in-life, a strange adventure, a problem with cats, or even something about that period spent in Piranesi when they were in the process of becoming the Felined Eccentric. I'd love to know more about her feelings about what's she's become, about the remnants of her past following her in feline form, or about how she feels about the captain and crew since it sounds like it's her first time having companions.

I'm open to any and all other crew so go ahead and use whatever mix of characters suits you, though I prefer a female or gender-neutral captain if they appear. I'm mostly just excited to see more of the weird world of Sunless Skies.

This Is How You Lose the Time War
Red/Blue

There's so much I love about the universe of this book: the strange vision of post-human time-travellers who can transform themselves and live all these different lives while fighting a war that's invisible to the vast swathes of humanity that preceded them; the way the two factions are positioned as opposites--technology and nature-- while both turning out to have a lot of similarities including shared/collective consciousness; the way poetry and pop-culture permeate Red and Blue's letters as they learn each other's similarities and differences and how their story culminates in the two of them becoming literally a part of each other.

I'd love to see anything for them, an extra letter, an outsider's perspective on their story (a regular human or someone from one of their factions), or a post-canon story with them trying to find common ground between Garden and the Agency, or just them hiding out somewhere (some version of London maybe? Familiar or really unusual?) having tea and checking out libraries together.
