Letter -- femslash exchange 2022
Dear author,
First of all, thank you so much for writing for me. I've rambled a bit below about the pairings I've requested and suggested some things, but if you have something you're dying to write, then follow that plot-bunny where it leads! I hope you enjoy the exchange and I'm excited to see what you come up with!
Likes: Fluff, mystery, adventure, casefic, hurt/comfort, found families, strong female characters, f/f, affection, girls with swords, friends-to-lovers, missing scenes, post-canon, unconventional fanworks that fit the canon setting (letters, journals, case reports, newspapers, choose your own adventure-style fics, etc.)
DNW: Explicit sex (mentions and fade to black are okay), non-con, dubcon, incest, animal harm/death, main character death, graphic violence/gore, torture, self-harm, mundane AUs, character-bashing, kidfic
Fire Emblem: Three Houses
Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes
Fire Emblem: Sacred Stones
Star Ocean: Till the End of Time
Doctor Who
The Wayhaven Chronicles
Three Houses
FE3H DNW: Male Byleth. Edelgard being dead. If you're not into CF route, please be vague about route or go with an AU where everyone survives.
Dorothea/Petra
Obviously this one has to take place in the second half of the game or post-game since Petra is still so young in part 1. I love how strong and hardworking Petra is and while her verbal missteps are often used for comedic relief I really admire her for persisting in a second language. Dorothea meanwhile is so lovely and kind but she's really down on herself a lot of the time. She seems so convinced that her appearance and voice are the only things anyone really sees in her and she's determined to get married before those things fade. So there's this surprisingly sad undercurrent to several of supports despite how cheerful and uplifting she is so many others. Does Petra pick up on any of that? What does she think of Dorothea? When does she realize she cares for Dorothea as more than a friend? Does the language barrier get in their way? How does Dorothea adjust to her new life in Brigid? Of course feel free to ignore any of these questions if you have another idea. I'll be excited to read whatever you want to explore with these two.
Dorothea/Ingrid
There's so much potential for this ship, it's really sad that they don't have an A support. I mean that scene with the ring during their Paralogue was just priceless. I'd love to hear more about how they get close or about the opera Dorothea was organizing or what they go onto do after the war. Ingrid is so serious and straight-laced and uninterested in traditional femininity (makeup, dresses, etc.) and then there's Dorothea, the former opera star--it's a sort of opposites attract setup.
Dorothea/Manuela
Manuela really is a mess but the A support between these two is just so sweet! What was their relationship like at the opera? Has Dorothea always had feelings for Manuela or did that happen later? What's their post-game return to the stage like? Manuela is so insistant on finding a man during the game (she flirts with female Byleth but in their supports says something like 'if only you were a man'), so how do her feelings change?
Edelgard/Byleth
CF route is my favourite route. I love Edelgard's determination to make the world a better place and the moral greyness surrounding the decisions she makes and the ones she's forced to make due to the silthers. I love that her story is complex and tragic, but that it can also lead to hope in CF route where Byleth and Edelgard team up to reclaim Fodlan for humanity, and in doing so reclaim their own. Byleth's story arc of her slowly becoming more human becomes especially interesting with the loss of her crest and gaining a heartbeat. I'm also I'm fascinated by the double life Edelgard has to lead during the Garreg Mach phase of the game. On the one hand she's working with her imperial allies to prepare plans to topple the Church and working with the slithers and on the other she's getting to know Byleth and the Black Eagles. It must be incredibly difficult when she knows she's deceiving them and they may or may not stick with her when they find out. But really I'm open to anything during part 1, part 2, post canon, something whatif-ish, as long as both are alive and well.
Three Hopes
FEW3H DNW: Azure Gleam, Male Byleth, Jeralt and Byleth being dead
Dorothea/Petra
Petra is still pretty young in Three Hopes so it's fine for this to be more pre-relationship or set post-canon. I've always liked these two. (I have comments on them in my Three Houses section if you want more details.)
I think one of the interesting differences between this version of them and the original is that Petra is already the queen of Brigid, even though it hasn't been announced publicly. A lot of her supports have to do with her talking about her duty to Brigid as its queen. I wonder if Dorothea would find that at all intimidating? In the original game Petra is still a princess and Dorothea is very chill about that, but would knowing that, as soon as the war ends, Petra will return to Brigid and take the throne make a difference? Would it affect how they interact and how they develop feelings for each other? Would that not happen until later maybe? When Petra was visiting Fodlan or Dorothea was visit Brigid? I'm also up for any sort of bonding during the war too though. Mostly I just want to see them spending more time together and getting closer.
Edelgard/Byleth
The dynamic between these two is quite different in Three Hopes so I'd love to see more of how they get to know each other once Byleth gets recruited. Maybe a moment during a battle, or Byleth's reaction to seeing Edelgard disappear along with Shez and the others and then being returned, or just the first time they have tea together. I love that there's a discussion in Hubert's supports to Edelgard's being drawn to Byleth because of their shared crest so anything to do with Edelgard's crest is interesting too.
Sacred Stones
Tana/SyreneI love pairings that involve a member of royalty and their retain or bodyguard. I always loved Seth/Eirika and Tana/Syrene is the same flavour of ship: retainer who's known the princess a long time and probably helped train her to fight, thrown together during the war. I'd love to see anything with them either before, during, or after the war. I'd love to know how their relationship went from friendship to romance. Was one of them pining for the other a long time? Or did they only realize during the war when they were fighting side by side? How do they handle the difference in their station after the war. Do her parents or Innes object?
Star Ocean: Till the End of Time
Nel/Clair I played this game years and years ago and the whole way through I just thought Nel and Clair were way too close to be just friends. Also the NPCs were always talking about them together "Lady Nel and Lady Clair" as if they were an established pair. I always wondered if the fact of Clair technically being Nel's commander caused them problems, if they had to try to hide their relationship or if there was some sort of exception made for them. A post-canon glimpse of them would be fun, or a story about how they deal with the anxiety and separation if Nel travels with Fayt. And the addition of Adray and his misguided attempts to marry off Clair are always fun too.
Doctor Who
Thirteen/Yaz
I've really enjoyed the recent seasons and I love both of these two. I love Thirteen's energy and how desperate Yas is to have more time with her and more of the universe. It was heartbreaking to see her searching for the doctor when she was missing and it touching that she never gave up on her. And the fact that they actually acknowledged in the show that Yas has feelings for her and has had to come to terms with those feelings was really amazing to watch.
So yeah an adventure with creepy monsters is good but so is a quiet scene in the Tardis or a scene from when they were separated or anything else. I just want more time with both of them. I'd like to pretend that their time together isn't going to end soon so I'd be happy for a story that just ignores the impeding finale and gives these two all the time in the universe that they need.
The Wayhaven Chronicles
Detective/Nat
I love how bookish Nat is, that she has her own personal library at their new hideout, and that doing old-fashioned research is her jam. I'd love to see any sort of quiet moment between these two, researching for a case, or going on a proper date, or clinging to each other after a close call. How do they address the question of the detective's mortality? Have they talked about her becoming a vampire some day?
It's been a while since I played the games so I don't remember which name I went with for the detective so feel free to pick your favourite.
